During my MFA studies at Tainan National University of the Arts, Taiwan, I had the privilege of visiting various residency programs internationally. Thus, my art practice benefitted exponentially from the exchanges and friendship of many foreign professionals working in the field over the years. Not only am I grateful to Professor Chang Ching Yuan for the arrangements he had made, I am inspired by his spirit of education and sharing. Therefore, it became my own personal goal to expand and continue artistic exchanges in my own way. With Jing Clay Art Formosa, other than providing or facilitating residency programs within my space, I hope to extend our Taiwanese warm heartedness to foreign resident artists as well. May you enjoy our culture, its fusion of various different traditions and contemporary life, as well as our Taiwanese natural landscape. I hope all these will benefit you creatively during your time with us. In addition, through Jing Clay Art Formosa, we hope to organize ceramics symposiums with universities and colleges, or ceramics specialized workshop with schools and organizations around the world, and to provide artists in the Jing Clay Art Formosa to give lectures or work demonstrations, and to hold regional ceramics bazaars. We are also looking forward to practicing community-based arts and cultural activities, promoting local tourism, and promoting local humanistic and artistic lifestyles.
