Kate Strachan是一位來自美國的藝術家,2012年到日本金澤當學徒後,她的作品深受日本的文化影響,融合了美國的根源與日本的經歷。在2022年於台南藝術大學陶瓷應用研究所畢業,自攻讀學位以來,曾在國際上展出,且入選台南新藝獎藝術家,從2016年後陸續在台灣、日本舉辦多次展覽,是當代活躍藝術家之一。 在材料的實踐上,她的作品透過泥漿與膠著物鋪設在玻璃片上,表現個人的創作方式,呈現當代雕塑表現的趨勢。 Kate Strachan is an artist from the America, and in 2012, she apprenticed in Kanazawa, Japan. Strachan’s time spent in the Japanese studio gradually influenced her practice in ceramics, as well as her identity as an American. She graduated with a MFA from Tainan National University of the Arts, Graduate Studies of Applied Arts, Ceramics, Taiwan, in 2022. Since her days pursuing her degree, she had exhibited internationally and was also awarded one of the winners for Next Art Tainan 2022. Since 2016, she has held numerous exhibitions in Taiwan and Japan, and is one of the most active contemporary artists. In terms of material practice, her works unconventional usage of clay slip in combination with adhesive and other materials, for example, glass, expressing her personal way of creation and presents the recent trend of sculptural expression. |
